OVERSEAS MARKETS.

HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLE,

HEMP, TALLOW, WOOL

The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated November 9. from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:—

Hemp.—Manila: Lower grades are steady. Small -Jes of "J" grade Novem-ber-December and January-March shipments have been made at £41. Demand is small. Sisal: The market is quiet. Value of No. 1, November-January shipments, is £36 to £36 5/. New Zealand: The market is easier. More hemn is offering and consumers are holding off. Closing values were: Highpoints, £34, fair £32, and. common £31 10/. Stocks in London on October 31, were 88 toils, against 21 tone at the same time last year.

Tallow.—The spot market is quiet and prices are the same as last Quotation.

Wool.—Bradford tops ard dearer in eonsequence of a rise in raw material. Present quotations are: 64's (Merino) warp, 4/4 to 4/5 per lb: average, 4/3 to 4/4 per Jib; 56's (super halt bred), 3/3; 50's (halfbred), 2/5V4; 40"s, prepared, 1/11. DAIRY PRODUCE. Amalgamated Dairies. Ltd.. report having received the following cables:—

London.—Butter: Anchor, 180/; first, 176/ to 178/; stored, 172/ to 176/. Market firm. Unsalted, 188/ to 190/. Deliveries of New Zealand last week 1400 tons, in store 3900 tons. (The normal weekly consumption in Great Britain is 5500 tons.) Danish, 208/ to 210/ for spot stocks; 204/, f.o.b. Retail prices advancing Monday, Danish 2/, New Zealand 1/9. Cheese: New Zealand, new 98/ to 100/, matured, 102/; Canadian, spot, 100/ to 104/, c.i.f.; Octobers 94/, Novembers 94/. Market firmer. Good demand matured. .

Argentine.—Shipments to United Kingdom this week 700 tons.

New York.—Extras, 50 cents (1/5% f.0.b., Auckland). San Francisco.—Extras, 49 cents (1/6% f.0.b., Auckland). Montreal.—3B cents (1/5% f.0.b.), cheese, 19% cents. The Canadian producing season is practically over. .
