DISGUSTING OFFENCES.
GAOL FOR SIX MONTHS.
Described as a seaman, who came from South America, but who was really an actor by profession, a dark haired and sallow faced man, Richard Kent (46) admitted three charges of wilful and obscene exposure when he came before Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., at the Police Court this morning.
Chief Detective Cummings said that for some time complaints had been received about a man who answered the description of Kent and frequented Albert Park. As a result, a watch was set, and accused was caught in the act. Two of the offences were committed in the park, while the other took place in a tram-car. Just prior to Kent being caught there had been quite an epidemic of such disgusting offences. Kent said that he was an actor, and that he was endeavouring to get a position locally.
Accused had nothing to say for himself, but handed a note to the magistrate. \
Mr. McKean said that it was not a question of one isolated case. The offences had been repeated. Accused was sent to gaol for six months on one of the three charges, and convicted and discharged on the pt&er two.
