AUCKLAND CENTRE'S AFFAIRS. PROSPECTS BRIGHT. At the twenty-fifth annual meeting of the Auckland Centre of jthe.Sew Zealand Amateur Athletic Association held on Saturday evening, Mr. .W. Morton, president, occupied the chair, and welcomed the delegates, including Mr. L. W,. Brown, who had come from Hamilton. The annual report stated that 13 clubs affiliated during the season, and tha't the Onehunga and Te Awamutu Clubs had been resuscitated after having been moribund for several seasons.. New clubs are expected to be established shortly at Whangarel Tauranga and elsewhere. . Prospects for 1927-28 season . appeared bright, and with the prospect of the Auckland City Council laying ■ out a banked cycling and cinder running path at Western Springs, Auckland might soon be in .possession of the finest sports ground In the Dominion. The centre Intended to Inaugurate a queen festival scheme to assist" its Own funds and the finances of each of the affiliated clubs; Office-bearers elected for the 1927-28 season were:—President. Permits were granted ns follows:— Whatawhata, January 2 ; Hamilton, January 3: Silverdale, January 21; Te Awamutu, January 30. On the motion of Mr. I*. W. Brown It was decided to approve the affiliation of the Whatawhata Club. Mr. J. Whltten reported that the East Tamakl Club now had a membership of 79. The track had been ploughed and levelled, and would be in good order after the New Year. The Hamilton Club wrote favouring the establishment of a sub-centre in the Walkato. It was unanimpusly agreed to assist in the Instituting of a sub-centre in the Waikato, with headquarters at Hamilton. WELLINGTON CENTRE. ELECTRIC LIGHT RACES. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.* WELLINGTON, Sunday. The outstanding performances ot an electric light meeting under the auspices of the Wellington Centre held at the Basin Reserve last evening, were those of G. Bayne, who beat R. A. Rose by two yards i none mile In 4.33, and F. S. Ramson, who defeated the champion, R. W. Lander, in both 120 and 440 yards hurdles races. Only scratch events were included on the programme and the form displayed was of a hich standard. The track was inclined to be heavy after recent rain. There was an attendance of over 2000.
