WAIKATO NOTES.

Mrs. A. Joseph, of Hamilton, has returned from Gisborne. Miss Rigg, of Wellington, was in Hamilton during the week. Mrs. W. G. Robbie has left Hamilton to reside in Tauranga. Mr. and Mrs. G. Dolan, of Hawera, have been on a visit to Hamilton. Mr. and Mr 6. C. Drury, of Opotiki, were in Hamilton during the week. Mrs. D. R. Caldwell has returned to Cambridge from a trip to Suva. Mrs. A. W. Ward has returned to Hamilton from a visit to New Plymouth. Miss E. Swayne has returned to Te Kuiti from a holiday spent in CamJ>ridge. Mrs. H. I. B'tts, of St. Helior's Bay, is the guest of her sisters, "Oldfield," Frankton Hill. Mrs. Barclay Farqonar, or Suva, is y in Cambride. Mrs. G. W. Bews and Miss Bews, of Auckland, are on a visit to Hamilton. Mrs. M. G. Bell, of Hamilton, is on a visit to Rotorua. Mrs. H. Valder, of Claudelands, is staying in Auckland. Miss J. Stevens has returned to Hamilton from Dunedin University. Mrs. F. W. Okey, of England, has been staying in Hamilton. Miss G. Rawson, formerly of Hamilton, is spending a holiday in the South Island. Mrs. H. G. Gilbert, of Claudelands, is on a visit to Christchurch. Mrs. W. Petheridge, of Hamilton, is staying in Westland. Miss N. Howe has returned to Hamilton from Dunedin for the vacation. Mrs. A. J. Bond has returned to Hamilton from a visit to Milford beach. Miss G. Roche has returned to Hamilton from a visit to L potiki.

On Tuesday afternoon at "Wairere," the home of Mrs. H. J. Grecnslade, the final afternoon of the East Bridge Club took' place. The room was bright with beautiful roses. Those present were: Mesdames A. Furze, T. B. Insoll, P. E. Stevens, E. F. Pescocke, J. E. Chitty, G. W. Hyde, J. C. Gray, C. Sutcliffe, T. Lucas, W. G. Robbie, A. L. Sheppard, T. F. Jolly, Misses C. Wallnutt, C. Jolly, Eggleston.

An enjoyable afternoon tea was given by Mrs. S. Lewis, at Cambridge, on Tuesday. The rooms were decorated with pale pink rhododendrons. Mrs. Lewis was wearing a smart henna georgette frock. The guests were: Mesdames Russell, Neeley, Rush, J. Sawers, C. Hunter, W. Rout, F. Swayne, Innes Taylor, Jennis, W. Home, Hawkesbv, Porritt, Ziman, Brycc, A. Richardson, Misses B. Swayne, George and Souter. A farewell bridge evening was given for Mrs. W. G. Robbie, on Monday at the home of Mrs. T. B. Insoll, Hamilton East. Iceland poppies were used to decorate the drawing-room and supper table. The top prise was won by Mrs. J. E. Chitty. The guests were: Mesdames W. G. Robbie, T. F. Jolly, G. Hyde, H. Grecnslade, P. E. Stevens, A. Furze, L. Sheppard, J. E. Chittv, P. R. Stewart, T. Y. Lusk, Misses" Wyatt, Stevens, C. Jolly, Wallnutt and 'de Renzv.

On Friday afternoon Mrs. T. C. Fraser entertained a number of her friends at a farewell for Mrs. W. G. Robbie. Mrs. Fraser wore a navy taffeta silk frock. Those present were: Meedames W. G. Robbie, W. D. Ross, A. F. Meldrum, A. Beale, P. E. Stevens, W. Hale, A. Lusk (Dunedin), P. R. Stewart, J. C. Gray, T. F. Jolly, A. Williams, T. B. In6oil, H. J. Greenslade, T. Y. Lusk, A. L. Sheppard and Miss Stevens.

The official opening of the Hamilton Lawn Tennis Club was held on Saturday, when there was a good attendance of members. Those present were: W G Bambridge, Misses R. Burley, I.
