LEARNING TO DRIVE CAR.
HAX FATALLY INJURED.
CAR PLUNGES OVER BANK.

NELSON, this day. J. L. Thomas, aged 48, a sawmill hand, of Kaka, died to-day from a fractured spine, received when the car he was driving over Spooner's Range nosedived over a bank on Saturday afternoon.
Two other occupants of the car, Messrs. W. Everett and R. Biggs, escaped serious injury. Thomas was learning to drive at the time, and the instructor was sitting alongside him when the accident occurred.
