TENDERS FOR WAR MEMORIAL

EPIDEMIC OF MEASLES,

DARGAVILLE, this day,

The following tenders were received for the erection of the war memorial band rotunda on the foreshore at Victoria Street:—W. H. Lee, £257 17/ (accepted); B. G. Smith, £258; E. Oxenham, £264 9/; H. T. Waring, £295: T. Heron, £373 13/.

The committee is £70 short of the desired amount, so the Mayor is issuing a subscription list.

Measles are fairly prevalent here at the present time, and the attendance at the schools, especially in the junior classes, is being materially affected. The headmaster of the Dargaville School stated that in his experience this is the worst year for sickness he has known.

The Northern Wairoa Dairy Company directors have again donated a silver cup for the Northern Wairoa A. and P. Association's butterfat competition. The cup previously donated by the directors was won outright last year by Mr. Frank Martinovich-
