THE DAZZLE PROBLEM.
PRACTICAL LOCAL INVENTION.
I PUSH BUTTON CONTROL OF I HEADLIGHTS. The question of dimming or dipping of headlights is one which vitally concerns all motorists as it is often the cause of serious accidents. We have inspected' a device patented by Mr. F. E. Higgins, of Cambridge, Waikatd, which offers a practical solution of this question. The system is worked electrically, by a push button on the steering column. Pressing a button tilts the headlights and throws the beams directly on the road some ten or 15 feet ahead of the car. This distance can be regulated by a screen control. The whole idea iB so simple that it is a wonder it has not been applied before. The control is worked by an electric coil mounted under the bonnet. By dipping the lights, their full brilliancy is retained without the possibility of dazzling other drivers. We understand the device has been patented throughout the world.
