NURSERYMEN'S OUTLOOK.
BETTER OVERSEAS MARKETS

A. Green. Dominion organiser and seeretarv, at the annual meeting of the Auckland Nurserymen's Council last evening. Mr. Green said that high prices for all classes of stone fruits had caused increased planting in nearlv all stone fruit districts, especially Otago, Canterbury. Hawke's Bay and Auckland. There was now a more stable market overseas for apples. In connection with citrus fruits, there was a prospect of increased pointings in 1928, and the outlook had been improved by reason of an additional penny a pound duty having been placed on the foreign-gro n article. In connection with roses. Mr. Green said that quality trees, and more coordinated effort was needed. He added that grea*. interest was being taken in bulbs, and a strong demand wa« experienced. In the bedding plant business, in some places there had been a good deal of price-cutting competition.
