THE "MOVIE" BALL.
Planned on lines comparable only to Sydney's famous Movie Ball, or a film 6tar night at a Hollywood cabaret, the Grand Movie Ball, called "A Night in Hollywood," will be held in the Town Hall this evening. For Auckland it is an innovation. To greet Miss New Zealand 1927. the motion picture industry inaugurated the function, which 6hould be the most spectacular and most brilliant that has ever been staged in Auckland. Two jazz bands will start at 8.45, and dancing will be to continuous music by the Famous Internationals and Walter Smith's Dance Orchestra. Cash, prizes, totalling over £50, will be given for the best representations of Mary Pkkford, Betty Balfour. Norma Talmadge, Charles Chaplin, Lon Chaney, Harold Lloyd, Syd Chaplin, Colleen Moore, Laura La Plante, Tom Mix. Duo, representing the Duncan Sisters in Topsy and Eva ("Uncle Tom's Cabin"), and for a team representing movie picture characters, not fewer than four in number. "Enchanted Garden and Harlequinade."' a children's dance entertainment, will be staged from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. Proceeds of the Movie Ball will be given to the Major's Unemployment Fund."
