WATER FOR MT. ROSKILL.
SUPPLY AND DEMAND. The Auckland City Council has recently completed the laying of an Bin main from Fairfax Road to the junction of Alba Road and the Drive. This new main is connected to an Bin main which runs to Selwyn Road. From Onslow Road to, the other end to the Mount Roskill boundary there is a 7in main, reducing to 6in at Selwyn Road. The Mount Roskill Road Board is only drawing about 100,000 gallons of water a day from thb city mains! This quantity is nowhere near the capacity of the city main. There is, therefore, in the opinion of Mr. Geo. H. Carr, city waterworks. superintendent, no necessity for increasing the size of this short length of main. Mr. Carr suggested that the board should make a large connection from the city main at Selwyn Road and the Drive. If necessary, the size of the main would be increased at a later date. This correspondence was in reply to request by Mount Roskill that the : City. Council would replace the present 7in and fiin mains referred to above with an Bin main. The One Tree Hill Road Board wrote withdrawing its offer to supply Mount lons 111 W ' th WatCr at 10d per 1000 gal " le ! te '. s wcrc received, and, on the Mr t" °a Navies, seconded by roantwi iv er, it was decided to resolution asking the One : Roskin with a waUsr? rd t0 SUpp,y M ° Unt
