MOUNT ALBERT AFFAIRS.
CUTTIKG TIP NEW STREETS. BUILDING PERMITS INCREASING^ The Mount -Albert Borough- Council met last evening, the Mayor (Mr. L. E. Rhodes) presiding. The following were also present: Messrs. «T. H. Langlev, P. Buckley, P. Floyd, W. G: Russell, G. Brigham, C, H. Davies, J. Taylor, and R. G. Allingham. Work on Cricket Avenue.—A letter was received from the Mount Eden Borough Council stating that it had been agreed to contribute towards the cost of ; the work on Cricket Avenue. Si. John Ambulance Association.—Permission was granted to the St. J<ohn Ambulance Association to take up a street collection on November 4. Cutting Up New Streete, —Councillors complained of the Post and Telegraph Department and the Auckland Power Board cutting up newly-formed streets and roads to do what was admitted to be necessary works. It' was decided to write to the bodies concerned, pointing: out the inconvenience caused and requesting that the council be informed at least two months ahead of any proposed alterations, additions or new works which would be undertaken. Improving Reserves. —The acting-engi-neer reported that the rockery at Onslow Road and the Prince of Wales Reserve had been cleaned up, besides-which-the blackberry had been cleared from the ■reserve at Morningside bridge. Twenty dozen assorted seedlings had - been planted on the reserve at the corner of New North Road and Clark Street. In Kingsland .Avenue, Buchanan Street, and Onslow Road the plots had been attended to. . Building 3 Still Going Up.—A report submitted by the building inspector (Mr. L. Dodds"). stated that since September 18, 58 building permits, valued at £23,MP. had been issued. Included in that- number were 24 dwellings, valued at £21,697.
