FENCED IN FIFTY ACRES.
ANOTHER MAR'S LAUD. MAORI CHARGED WITH TRESPASS. (By Telegraph.—o<m Correspondent.) WAIHI. this .day. A rather unusual casf of trespass was heard in the Magistrates Court to-day, when Mita Fitipa was' charged, on thte information of Robert F. Bfekeney, of Katikati, farmer, wjjtli trespassing on his property in the parish of Tahawai. Counsel said defendant had fenced in 50 acres ofßlakeney's property, claiming that the land was his own,'and had been that of hi* people before him. The magistrate entered a conviction, and ordered defendant to pay £3 3/ to the informant, to defray the cost of searching his title to the land.
