A "SIDEY SHIELD."
GRATITUDE OF ATHLETES. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Monday. The Amateur Athletic Union of Australia has informed tiie council of th<. New Zealand Amateur Athletic Associa tion that in its opinion it was not practicable to include ladies' championshipcin the Australian and New Zealand championships to be held in Wellington at Christmas. The union said that a& far as it was aware athletics for women were not organised in any of the Australian States and it did not think any competitors would be sent from Australia.
To commemorate the passing of the Summer Time Bill, the council of th* association decided to move in the direction of securing a challenge cup or shield for field «vents to be competed for annually at the Dominion chamoion ships, states a Press Association mes sage. The trophy will be called the Sidey Challenge Trophy, in honour of the sponsor of the bill, Mr. T. K. Sidey. M.P. The council intends to contribute five guineas to the purchase of the trophy and to ask the five ccntres in New Zealand to contribute a similar sum each, i
