SUNSHADE FRILLS.
PARASOL RETURNING TO FAVOUR,
A sunshade which looked exactly like a huge white lace cake d'oyley was a summer dress novelty shown at a West End shop in London. The sunshade was lined with finely pleated applegreen chiffon, and had a carved wooden handle, depicting the Great God Fan with a bunch of grapes. For the greater part, sunshades of the season are much more elaborate " than they have been during the last fe,w years. An effort is being made to draw a
strong line between the en tout cas, or coloured umbrella of plain silk, and the strictly "sunshiny" sunshade. T ined and frilled sunshades — more strictly called "parasols" by the pedantic—such as were very fashionable in the reign of King Edward, are returning to favour. Many of them are of lace lined with chiffon, white lace lined with frills of black chiffon, allied with a handle of black and white onyx, being one example.
