Marcel Leblond, of Dijon, France, now a resident of Sydney. •*• ' » An interesting visitor to Svdney, who is staying at the Hotel Australia, is Mrs. Cripps, widow of the American millionaire, who recently toured the world in a private yacht, and was in Svdnov last year. • • * * Miss M. I. Turnbull, lecturer in classics at the Ota-go University, left by the North express on her way to Athens, where she will study for three months irt the British School of Archaeology. She expects to be away from New Zealand for about six months.
Mr. and Mrs. Max Litchenstein leave by the Ulimaroa 011 Friday for Australia to attend the wedding of their son Eric, who is shortly to be married to Miss D. Benjamin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. Benjamin, of South Yarrah, Melbourne.
Miss Constance Russell gave a very enjoyable "gift" tea last week at her home "Dirleton," St. Stephen's Avenue, for Alias Joan Makgill, who is to he married shortly. Among the guests were: Miss Meg Russell, Miss Joyce Stevenson, Miss Rona Rainger, Miss Miriam Makgill, Miss Vere Middl(jton, Miss Francis I'ortes, Miss Ethel Gal way, Miss Joyce O Halloran, and Miss Linda de Kenzy.
Miss Edna Kenderdinc gave a most enjoyable morning tea party yesterday at hor home, Takutai Street, for Miss Joan Makgill, who is to be married this week. Among the guests were: Mrs. H. A. Joyce, Mrs. R. E. Alpe, Mrs. E Alexander, Mrs. E. Tonks, Mrs. Bell Mrs. A. Thompson, Miss Joyce Steven son. Miss Helena Eraser, Miss Phyllis Lindsay, Miss Nancy MacCormiek, Miss G. Barnett, Miss Lorna Leatham, Misa Audrey Stubbs, and Miss Ellen Lush. The guest of honour received many usefu gifts.
