Warm and pleasant weather conditions prevailed while early work was in progress this morning, but a sou'-westcr sprang up during the breakfast interval, accompanied by a light drizzle, which did not last long, though a cold wind was in evidence for the remainder of the morning. Most of tihe galloping was done on the plough, though No. 6 grass track was also open for fast work.

Eulalie opened proceedings by covering a mile. She was picked up by Lucinda over the last five furlongs and ran the last seven furlongs in 1.32. She finished well and it was a useful effort. Luminant had Battle Colours as a companion over six furlongs, the last half-mile taking 54 4-ss. Arrowmir sprinted half a mile alone in 50 3-ss—a smart gallop. Philippic ran six alone, but he was not fully extended at the finish. Centrepiece and Front Sank were associated over seven furlongs, which they ran comfortably in 1.34 2-3. Agrion was given strong pace work over a circuit, while Shalimar and Wayward did a working gallop over six furlongs. Finora ran six furlongs In 1.20 1-5, going very freely. Coupling beat Ophir o*er half a mile in 535, Heisler taking 52 2-ss. By himself, Paperchase covered six furlongs on the grass in 1.17 2-5, and did it comfortably. Footfall, with a light weight, reeled off nine furlongs on the grass in 1.07 2-5. He went at a sound pace all the way and finished well. Gold Mint sprinted three furlongs in 395. Nincompoop took 1.24 to run six fur* longs, but he was not ridden out. Oriflamb (Peart) jumped two hurdles in good style.
