BIGAMY CHARGE.
ALLEGATIONS REFUTED. CHARACTER OF ACCUSED'S WIFE. Lan Cameron (Mr. J. F. W. Dickson) who came up for sentence yesterday at the Supreme Court on a charge of bigamy and whose case was adjourned until today, appeared this morning before Mr. Justice Stringer. He had alleged that his legal wife was a woman of ill-repute. Mr. Patcrspn, Crown Prosecutor, said he was prepared to call evidence to prove that the allegations made by Cameron were totally untrue. He met his. wife against the wishes of her mother, married her when she was 19 years of age, and later deserted her. She went back to live with her mother who was a most respectable woman.
Mr. Dickson said if further evidence was called by Mr. Paterson, he was also prepared to call witnesses.
His Honor adjourned the case for a fortnight, when, if it desired, further evidence may be called.
