Cocksfoot.—On account of bad weather Danish new crop reported failure, and prices have advanced considerably, 90-95 quoted at £5 7/6 c.i.f. main ports. Peas.—Maple: New Zealand spot quoted 87/6 to 90/ ex store, and nominal value of first grade February to March shipments 77/6, and April to May shipments 70/. "A" grade Tasmanian February shipments 87/, March to April shipments 83/6. Bluee: Market very quiet. New crop New Zealand and Tasmanian worth about £18 for shipment next spring, but no buyers at present for this position. Hemp.—Manila easier early this week, and "J" grade October to December shipments sold £42 10/, and down to £42 5/. Market steady at the close, sellers quoting £42 15/. Sisal: Market steady. No. 1 arrived sold £37, and No. 3 £36. September to November shipments No. 1 quoted sellers £37 12/. Tow: Market quiet. Value No. 1 £31 to £32. New. Zealand market quiet. Business has been done with October to December shipments on the basis of £33 10/ for fair, and £32 10/ for common. Highpoints sellers £35 10/, but buyers ideas £35. Tow market quiet and easier. Value second grade £23, and third grade £20.

Argentine, finest unsalted, 174/ to 176/. Irish creamery, salted, 176/; unsalted, 180/. Dutch, unsalted, 196/ to 198/. Esthonian, salted, 180/ to 182/; unsalted, 182/ to 184/. Siberian, 138/ to 162/. Danish, 194/ to 196/. Retail prices unchanged. Cheese.—New Zealand white and coloured, 104/ to 106/. Market very firm. Outlook till end of year exceptionally good. Canadian, finest white and coloured, 105/ to 106/. English, finest, farmers, 120/ to 124/. Retail prices unchanged.

Amalgamated Dairies, Ltd., report having received the following cable from their London manager, under date October 1:— Butter.—Firsts, 182/; Anchor, 184/; unsalted, 18&/, nominal; Danish, 193/ f.o.b. Cheese. —White and coloured, 100/ to 102/; Canadian, 106/, c.i.f. Market unchanged for both butter and cheese.
