RUGBY LEAGUE.
NORTH V. SOUTH. INTER-ISLAND MATCH. TO-MORBOW'S BIG ATTRACTION. Great interest is being evinced in the North v. South Island match, which will ike played at Carlaw Park to-mor-row afternoon, as, with the cream of the League players engaged, there will be an opportunity of gauging the standard of the game in New Zealand? particularly in view of the fact that next season a British touring team will be here. There have been some alterations in the South- Island team as originally selected. Sanders, the Canterbury threequarter, is unable to play, and his place will be taken by Oliver, of Otago, a young player who has made a name for himself this season. A. Townsend formerly of Auckland, and now of Dunedin, ■who was chosen as hooker, is also unavailable, and will be replaced by Tallentire, West Coast, who played in the English trial games ast year. With favourable weather a fine exposition of the League code should result, and the best points of the game should be demonstrated. There will be two curtain-raiser games. The Auckland schoolboys will meet the Waikato school representatives at 1 p.m., and it will be followed by a third grade match between the Athletic and Devonport teams. At the interval in the big game Mr. W. J. Hammill will present caps to the members of the Otahuhu schoolboys, winners of the first primary schools championship held in Auckland. The teams for the inter-island game are:— e North Island. Fullback: Dufty (Auckland).
