N.Z. HOCKEY TOURNEY.

AUCKLAND V. BUSH UNION. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent) PALMERSTON N., tale <lay. The Auckland hockey team met the Bush Union in pouring rain yesterday on a field resembling a lake. The match has no effect on the semi-finalists, as they have already been found, and all remaining sectional fixtures are of no great consequence. In the first epell Bush were kept in their own quarters almost continuously, but owing to the sodden nature of the ground it was impossible to get any pace into shots. The game was frequently amusing to the spectators owing to the players having to indulge in water fights before they could get the ball out of pools. The game really should never have been played on such a shocking ground in such heavy rain. There was no score at half-time. In the second spell the same dull uninteresting display of hockey was given, but Auckland's superiority throughout the game was shown by the fact that the goalie had nothing to do till halfway through the spell when Bush, in weak attack, which should have been stopped by the Auckland halves, got to the circle and a tame shot dribbled past the goalie. Final: Bush Union 1, Auckland 0.
