At the end of the first 18 holm of the third round of the amateur championship. N. Bell was 3 up on Col beck; T. H. Hortoa, 4 ip on M. Duncan; & Morpetb, 8 up on P. Grey; A. Sime, 1 up on A. Duncan.
The etabmates, Bell and Colbeck, are replaying their final in the local championship again, but Colbeck is making a better show, being 3 down agaiast 5 down. They were all square at the turn, fcot coming home Colbeck was not ao steady as going out, and let Ball in. Horton rattled up 34 going out, and waa much too good for his younger opponent, M. Duncan, and waa 6 up. Coining home Duncan, by steady play, reduced the lead to four. Hortoa slipped one or two putts with an approximate round of even fours.
Sloan Morpeth made a net pace for P. Grey, who waa nnabte to keep pace with his doughty opponent The match between the veteran, Duncan, and Sime, is a very fine gam* between two of the best match players in New Zealand. Both are playing good match {.lay golf. Whenever «ae made a mistake, the other was equal to take advantage. The professional final between Butters and Mclntoah win be played on Saturday.
