BUSES WITH DEFECTIVE BRAKES.

By-law day in the Magistrate's Court this morning was presided over by Mr. W. K. McKean, 83L Mr. 6. B. Hogan, chief traffic inspector, conducted the eases for the Auckland City Council. For leaving their can unattended the following were fined 10/ with costs: H. W. Taylor( A. E. G. Banter, 7. H. Gunble, J. C. Colquhuon and 3. P.

Dye passed * stationary tramear in Queen Street and was fined £1 10/ with costs. fines of £1 with coste were imposed on Wah Tang and E. Perks for failing to obey traffic' officers. 'For leaving a car within a safety zone H. Northcroft was fined 10/ with cost*. Three charges of having defective brakes on omnibuses were brought against the Passenger Transport Company, Limited. Mr. Goulding appeared for the defendant company. The defence stated that the trouble was really I caused through the alterations insisted j upon by the Public Works Department. The buses all had to be fitted witi carbon shaft brakes. ' The sudden application of the hand-brake would be liable to render it useless or to throw the adjustments out of order. The brakes of ; the buses were inspected erery morning. Mr, McKean said that lie thought the alterations could easily become a source of danger. McLean was fined £1 with costs. Fines of £10 and 10/ with eosta were imposed on B. J. W. Taylor for using a lorry without heavy traffie license and with an expired indication disc.
