ONEHUNGA BOROUGH COUNCIL. The Onehunsa Borough Council met last nipht. there being present: Messrs.' (.'. Coldicutt (Mayor). H. Stoupe. H. Campling, J. Carlton, P. R. Lipsooinbe, R. (I. Speight, T. S. Lamont, T. Moor, E Morton, and W. C. Hill. Drainage.—The medical officer of health drew the council's attention to the drainage overflow on the beach. The cause of the trouble should be investigated, he said. The council quite realises the position, ami is negotiating for the formation of a Drainage Board for the whole area south of Campbell Road, including Ellersue, an<i part of One Tree Hill and Mount Roskill districts, and hopes that in the near future a satisfactory solution ■will be arrived at. Site for Rest Room.—lt was agreed to offer Mr. J. H. Black wood the sum of £150 for a section of land in Christchm-t h Street East, just below Queen Street, to be used as a site for a ladies' rest room. Tenders.—The following tenders were received for concreting footpaths in Waikaraka Cemetery: G. H. Loverinc £158 10/; A. Hines, £131 10/; F. Campbell. £110; M. V. Salman, £108; H. G Williams, £101 17/6; Rimer Brothers £94: Morris and Herbert, £89 10/; C D Reardon, £89; D, O. Jones, £86- P Tutaki. £84: A. W. Sakey, 5/ per sq'uare yard* W. L. Cox (accepted), 3/8 per square yard. -Flat Bate.—The Mayor moved, and it was resolved to rescind the resolution re proposed drainage flat rate for Beresford Park and Te Papapa, dated August 17, Xew Area.—The- Streets Committee recommended that a loan be obtained for footpath work in the new area recently taken'into the borough from One Tree Hill. This will fee con |dered in conjnnctidn with Mrl Morton's proposed reading scheme next Monday. Banger and Poundkeeper. — Eight applications were received for the position of ranger and poundkeeper. It was decided to limit the selection to ratepayers, and the final appointment be made, in' committee.
