BIG HURDLE RACE AT CAULPIELD. SEAFIT TAKES THE £2100 STAKE. MELBOURNE, August 7. The Victoria Amateur Turf Club's meeting opened at Caulfield yesterday in cloudr and threatening weather. The following was the result of the leading events:— AUSTRALIAN HURDLE RACE of 2100seTg. Three miles and a-quarter and 20yds. SEAFIT. aped, by Sea Prince—Competence (Mr. E. A. Kirby), 9.10 —Webster 1 PERCHANCE, b g. aged (Mr. E. Nor. toun). 9.O—Nelson 3 PILDIN, b g aged (Mr. T. Darts-, ll.lt —Butler 3 Eighteen started. Rounding the home tnrn Arcadious led by five lengths from Perchance, and appeared to bay* the race 'won, but at the last hurdle be struck heavily and blundered, unseating bis rider. This left Perchance in the lead, but ha was shortly afterwards passed by Seafit, who came home strongly, and won by two and a-half length?, sis lengths between second and third. Mineweed and Eupression were pulled up. Time, 6.12 J. MAIiAKOFF STAKES of 6OOsove; One mile and a furlong. AFFIRM, b ?, 6yre. by Nassau—Brayton (Mr. O.
