HORSE-DRAWN TRAFFIC.
PROHIBITION FROM QUEEN ST.
GENERAL CARRIERS' OPPOSITION*.
The Auckland City Council has decided to frame a by-law prohibiting all horsedrawn traffic from Queen Street after 4.30 p.m. on week days, and after 11.30 a.m. on Saturdavs.
Strong exception to this has been taken by the Auckland and Suburban General Carriers' Association, which has decided to oppose the movement on the grounds that nearly 00 per cent of the -artage from the wharf to warehouse in done by horse-drawn vehicles.
The association has written to the Auckland Manufacturers' Association which, at to-day's meeting, decided to refer the matter to the Chamber of Commerce.
