GREENOCK TO AUCKLAND.

SMALL SCHOONER'S VOYAGE, HAUTURU IN PORT. As mentioned in last night's "Star." the Northern Company's new auxiliary schooner Hauturu arrived unexpectedly from England yesterday afternoon. She berthed during the evening at the Central wharf, where she will await the owners' orders. The Hauturu is a steel vessel similar in design to the well-known schooner Otimai, but is considerably larger, having a gross tonnage of 270 tons. In the rough weather encountered during the first and last weeks of her voyage, she behaved very well, and the average speed for the whole voyage was 8.1 knots. The vessel left Greenock, where she was built, on May 21, and after the first week, experienced fine weather in the Atlantic. Sh© passed through the Panama Canal on June 16, and stayed for two days at Balboa to take in fuel oil and carry out minor repairs to the engines. Here two of the crew deserted. In the Pacific fine weather prevailed until a week ago, when the vessel ran into strong westerly winds and high seas. This weather continued until Auckland was reached. During the bad weather the sails, when reefed, proved very useful in steadying the vessel, and with fair winds they considerably increased her 6peed. , The engines, however, were kept going all the time.
