DEATH IN SNOWSTORM.
MAN ON RAILWAY STATION. WAITING FOR NIGHT TRAIN. (By Telegraph,—Own Correspondent.) RAETIHI, Friday. John Galbraith Lawson, aged 49, a sinplo man living at Pokaka, died suddenly early yesterday morning on the Pokaka railway station. The evidence produced at the inquest held last evening by the district coroner, Mr. W. H. Sandford, was to the effect that Lawson was a hauler-driver and working at Cowern's mill. He had received word that his father was seriously ill at Marton, and he intended to catch the 2 a.m. train at Pokaka for Ohakune, where ho was to join the Main Trunk train for Marton.
When he arrived at the station he appeared very cold, and at the time it was bitterly cold and snowing hard. The tablet porter invited him to warm himself 1 at the fire in the office. He accepted the offer, but after chatting for a few minutes he fell on the floor and expired. Pending the _ doctor's evidence, the inquest v s adjourned.
AGED PRISONER'S DEATH.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WANGANUI, Sunday. An inquest was held yesterday concerning the death of John Benjamin Alston, 82 years of age, who died at the Wanganui gaol on Friday. A verdict was returned that death was due to heart failure.
TWO BODIES IN HARBOUR.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Sunday. The body of Michael Delaney, labourer, was recovered from the harbour this morning. A second body, that of a man who has not been identified, has also been recovered.
