SUPPORT FOR UNION.
MASS MEETING AT ARAPUNI. MINORITY POLICY DEHOTJXCED STATEMENT BY MR. STOVE. Officials of the New Zealand Workers' Union, Messrs. A. Cook, J. R. Williams, and Gavin C. Stove, addressed a meeting of members of the union at Arapuni yesterday. It was the first occasion since the striko occurred that officials of the organisation had had an ! opportunity of discussing the situation I with members. After hearing why the I ew Zealand Workers' Union executive . had ordered the men back to work, the ! meeting carried the following resoluj tion: — | "That this mass meeting of the New | Zealand Workers' Union is of the | opinion that the attitude adopted bv ! the national executive in the Arapun'i .strike was the correct one. and we I pledge ourselves to stand loval by the I New Zealand Workers' Union, and instruct the general secret arv use | every effort to have the New Zealand ] Workers' Union continue to operate on I the Arapuni works." I Intimidation Alleged. "There is no question about it, that there is down at the works a faction of people who have no responsibility in the world, who are attempting to forcc men to sign a requisition against the union" sa.d Mr. Stove to a "Star" representati\e this morning. "There are a number of cases that have been reported of men haying been abused for refusing to do this. There is a good deal of misrepresentation, particularly in regard to funds " added Mr. Stove. "Nevertheless, the whole ot the trouble at Arapnni—if it can be regarded a s a trouble—has been occasioned by an irresponsible and noisr minority, backed up by unwarranted interference from outside influences."
