KAWARAU CALL.

CLAIM HOLDERS MEET,

(I>3 Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) DUNEDIX, this day. A representative meeting of Kawarau claim holders was held at Cromwell to discuss a call made by the Kawarau Co. of £30. Reasons for the call were embodied in a letter to the local company that the amount of call, together with arrears on previous calls, is necessary to meet outstanding liabilities. J. he meeting decided to resist payment of call pending certain important information from the company on financial matters. A visit of the Viekcrinan Company's engineer in regard to removing obstructions in the river, was keenly anticipated, but resulted in a further disappointment. Jle duly arrived about 1 a.m. on Saturday morning (says the "Star's" Cromwell correspondent), and departed early on Monday morning, having, it is said, inspected the river in that interval, but the results of his deliberations are not known. Local holders were keenly disappointed, as they were keen to seek iiis advice, and had arranged with (lie parent company's representative accordingly, but only to bo disappointed. The visit and what happened only served to afford food for further unfavourable discission regarding the whole scheme, and, taking a line from discussions heard among those closely concerned in the scheme financially, some interesting developments may be expected.
