LICENSE GRANTED.

MORRINSVILLE HOTEL

DIFFICULTIES OF THE LAW.

COMMENT BY CHAIRMAN.

PARLIAMENT SHOULD ACT

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) PAEROA, this day. ■The Ohinemuri Licensing Committee has granted a license, for the Morrinsville Hotel. Tho committee met this morning, Mr. F. W. Platts, S.M., presiding. The application before the committee was by Thomas Anderson for a publican's license for new hotel premises near Morrinsville, on the boundary of '.he Ohinemuri and Tauranga electorates, on election by Mrs. Mary B'.aekley Montgomery. The chairman stated to-day that the committee regarded tin> application as straight-out, and as if there was no other competing applicant for the license. In the opinion of the committee tho question of any preference for the applicant did not arise. The committee was conscious of the difficulty of interpreting many of the provisions of the Licensing Amendment Act relating to the district restoration of licenses. It hoped that such difficulties would be solved by an authoritative decision, or lie removed by legislation. A majority of the committee had decided to grant the application, subject to the applicant giving the necessary assurance that the building and grounds would he completed within one month from date. Mr. R. McYcagh, counsel for the applicant, gave the assurance.
