PRESENTATION TO MR. C. WHITI
At the Onewß Pieturcdrome, Northcote, last evening. Mr. George White, who has officiated as Inspector at. Birkenhead and Northcote for upwards of five years for the Health Department, was the recipient from the local businessmen of those districts, with a handsome canteen of cutlery iji view of his transfer to the Thames."
Tho Mayor of Northcote, Mr. A. E. Greenslade. who made the presentation, and who was associated on the platform by Messrs. ». M. Lawson, Victor Lidgard. and Frank Qneenin, members of the presentation committee, said the donors desired to pay a well-deserved tribute to this official for the unfailing courtesy, tact, and readiness to assist which had characterised the discharge of his duties. These duties were ••ften difficult a-nd required firmness of action but Inspector White, by the application of sweet reasonableness, could command without arousing friction. He had earned the esteem of all with whom he had to deal, and the plumbers and licensed drainers were particularly appreciative of his courteous and helpful administrative actions. Cheers were given for Mr. and Mrs. White, the former suitably responding.
