JOYS OF JUDGING.

HIGH STANDARD IN JUMBLE NAMES PUZZLE

jiGGLERS, TAKE HEED. Dear Boys and Girls, — i c ii HOW l Ve ,aughed over the alliterative sentences and song title stories. 1 ruUy expected the sentences to be funny—and they were; but I didn't realise how humourous I was going to find the song-stories. Although there were so many that it took me a long time to judge them al! mv enjoyment was such that I didn't mind a bit. I must congratulate competitors on the excellent work sent in for the jumble names competition. The standard was exceptionally high so high, indeed, that I found no less than thirty-eight with every word right. Of course it was impossible for such a large number to have a prize each. For the very unusual situation I've thought of a novel solution which I feel will appeal to your sense of loyalty and justice as the fairest way out: I'm awarding prizes to those who have never previously won anything in our competitions. Of those lam giving preference to club members. The others will, of course, receive four-point certificates. Other competitors who would under ordinary circumstances have been given points for their entries will understand that they are being left out on account of the exceptionally good standard which has necessitated the award of so many high certificates. Jigglers, why-'do you send me coloured pictures? Even though they may look very effective, it won't increase their chances of success. You'll find it easiest to do your drawings on white cardboard, drawing paper, or thick, white notepaper. Once again I emphasise the fact that you must use Indian ink if you want your successful effort published. And £fD don't forget to thicken the jiggle a _ '^^^jj\T little so that it will be easy to find. /li/ /T .# j^2"^^
