FARMER BANKRUPT.

CREDITORS DISSATISFIED. DISCHARGE TO BE OPPOSED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent) WAIHI, this day. Another meeting of the creditors in the estate of Edward James Crawford, of Katikati, a farmer, was held to-day. In a statement Crawford said he waa a returned soldier. He took up land with a capital of £200, his father assisting him in stocking the land, and taking a bill of sale. At the end of last year he found ho could not carry on, and his father thereupon realised on the stock. He had no assets and was now working for wages on the roads. The secured creditors were the Commissioner of Crown Lands £2500, and George Alley, of Katikati £487, on a second mortgage. Debts to unsecured creditors totalled £224 13/9. Bankrupt was severely cross-examined for two hours and the action of hia father in executing the bill of sale so soon was strongly commented on. It transpired that the bill of sale was registered on November 19 and executed on December 6. The creditors resolved to ask the Official Assignee to place the facts before the Crown solicitor for investigation, and to oppose bankrupt's discharge.
