HIGH COMMISSIONERS' CABLE. TALLOW MARKET QUIET. The Department of Agriculture ha« received tic following cablegram, dated June 25, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— Tallow. The market continues quiet. Present quotations are:— Mutton: Fine, 35/6 to 36/ per cwt; fair to good, 34/ to 35/; dark to dull, 31/6 to 32/6. Beef: Sweet and/or mixed, 35' to 38/; fair to good, 33/ to 35/; dark to dull, 31/ to 32/. Mixed: Fair to good. 32/6 to 34/6; dark to dull, 31/ to 32 . Gut, etc.: 26/6 to 31'3. Frstt. Apples: Market firm at present, especially for coloured sort*. Port Caroline shipment good except for a little waste in Winter Xelis pears. Prices are as follow: Apples (per case) Stunner 17/ to 20/; Dougherty, Tasma, Adam's Pearmain, Salome, 18/ to 20/; Rome Beauty, Delicious, 18/ to 21/; Jonathan and Statesman, 20/ to 23,'. Pears (per tray): Winter Nelis, 7/ to 12/6; P. Barry, Keiffers. 6/ to 7/. The Somerset's Hull shipment met a good demand; Sturmcr. 16/ to 20/: Statesman, 21/ to 26/; Rokcwood and Dougherty, 20/ to 23/. The Somerset's London shipment is partially discharged, in good condition so far. Otago prices are: Delicious. Statesman. Jonathan. 20/ to 24/; Cleopatra. 20/ to 22/6; Spitzenburg, Scarlet Nonpareil, 19/ to 23/. Hemp. Manila, market dull; lower prices accepted by second-hand sellers. Shippers not following, and with more inquiry at close sellers "A" grade ask £43 10/ for June —August shipments. Sisal market a little more active. No. 1 Tanganyika early shipments sold at £37 15/, and No. 2 at £37. Tow: Demand is good, and sales made at £29 to £31, according to quality. Mexican unchanged. Good white offered to Continent at £.15. New Zealand market continues quiet and values nominally unchanged. Business might bo posible on i the basis of high poiuts, £35 and fair. £34. Wool. The Bradford market is steady and the strength of raw materials maintains the priced' of tops. Present quotations for tops arc: 64's [ Merino), warp, 4/1 per lb; average, 2/11; 56's (super half-bred, 2/10*; 50"s (half-bred), I2\i; 40's, pre-! pared, 1,7%.
