FARM LABOURERS CRIME.
ISSUED VALUELESS CHEQUES MAN" CONCERNED. (By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) CHRISTCHURCB, this day. Frederick Godfrey Hall (28), a farm labourer, came from Hanmer with about £25, which he spent in the city. Then he obtained money by getting valueless cheques cashed after purchasing goods. According to the- police, accused said he got the cheques from another man, but the latter could not be traced. Accused bad 'been convicted previously. Counsel said it was quite true there bad been another man in the case.
The magistrate (Mr. Lawry), in passing sentence, said he would take into account the influence of the other man, and sentenced Hall to three months' imprisonment.
