ROTORUA NOTES.
Mrs. Crawford, Arawa Street, who has been on a visit to Napier, returned to Rotorua on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace, who have been spending a few weeks in Rotorua, have returned to Christchurch.
A successful plain and fancy dress dance and progressive 500 tournament was held by the Rotorua Ladies' Hockey Club on Friday evening, at the Peerless . Hall, when there was an attendance of over 200. The stage was arranged for the card players, the decora-' tions being ferns and pampas grass. The prize winners were: Ladies, Mrs. Scahill; Miss Berry, consolation; gentlemen: Mr. Crossland, first; Mrs. Duncan-Steele, who played as a gentleman, won the consolation prize. The body of the hall waa gay with multi-coloured streamers and the "KBoys" orchestra supplied delightful music, Mrs. Blencowe, Mrs. Carkeek and Mr. Gus. Walsh were the judges of the fancy costumes, and selected the following prize winners: Mrs. Greenlands as "Rooster" and Miss A Nicholls as "Hen," for the best paper costumes; Miss Rita McKinder, Cheeky, as the best costume and Mr. Joe Hall, as Miss New Zealand, 1027, as the most original. Other costumes worthy of mention were: Misses Rangi Owens, Spanish; Pascoe, B.SA. motor girl; Hay, bride; Featherstone, Columbine; £. Williams, Chinese; £. Rushton, green and black pierrette* D. McDowell, accompanied by between 30 and 40 ot the visiting delegates of the National Dairy conference, Mrs. Duncan-Steele, Mrs.' Hanks, Mrs. Matherson, Mrs. Brothers, Mrs. Pennington; Misses K. Carnahan, R. Owens, L. Owens, Appleyard, Hill, Young, McCracken, V. and P. St. Clair, C. Smith, E. Mitchell, W. Mitchell and H. Mitchell.
On Saturday evening, at the Ngongotaha Hall, a very enjoyable dance and 500 tournament was given by the Ngongotaha residents in honour of the visiting delegates of the National Dairy Association conference, members of which, to the number of between 30 01 40 attended, besides a numoer of the Rotorua residents. The Ngongotaha committee sent a fleet of thirty motor cars to convey the guests. The guests of honour were met by Mr. A. J. Isdalc, who, on behalf of the Ngongotaha residents, extended to the visitors a hearty welcome. Mr. Brown, of Levin, responded on behalf of the delegates. The hall was beautifully decorated. The winners' of the card tournament were Mrs.; Barrowman. first; Mrs. Brown, consolation; Mr. W. M. Ashtcn, first; Mr. W. Bell, consolation. Ellis's orchestra, of Rotorua, reudered delightful music, and among the many present were: Mrs. Isdale. Mrs. H. M. Martin, Mrs. Managh. Mrs. Reidy, Mrs. J. K. Martin. Mrs. H. P. Ford, Mrs. McPherson, Mrs. Mathews, Mrs. Dawson, Mrs. Davies, Mrs. McLeod, Mrs. Moule, Mrs. Castleton, Mrs. Bell, Mrs. Kemp, Mrs. Fisher, Mrs. Stem bridge, Mrs. Wolf gramme, Mrs. Beaumont, Mrs. Dalbeth, Mrs. Windley, Mrs. Smythe, Mrs. Thee.
