SHOOTING MISHAP.
■ I YOUNG MAN HURT. ONE FINGER TAKEN OFF. A young man named George Ward was admitted to the Auckland Hospital yesjterday afternoon with a gunshot wound in the left hand. Mr. Ward was out rabbit shooting yesterday, and while he was climbing through a fence the gun went off by accident. To shield his face, and to stop the bullet from entering his head, Mr. Ward instinctively put his hand over his eyes, and the shot entered it. His hand was so badly hurt as to necessitate one finger being taken off. He passed the night in comfort. Mr. Ward, who is a single man, 22 years old, is a tinsmith living at Elsom Avenue, Kingsland.
