LOCAL LEGISLATION.
I DISCUSSED BT CONFERENCE. AUCKLAND M.P.'S ATTEXD. Five Auckland Parliamentary members, Messrs. Lee, Jordan, Dickson, Potter, and Mason, met the members of the Auckland City Council in conference this morning, to discuss various matters of local body interest. The Mayor (MrGeo. Baildon) presided. Speakers on behalf of the City Council pointed out the need of amendment to various statutes, particularly in respect to: —(1) Licensing of places of amusement; (21 licensing of buildings for public amusement, and the taking into consideration of the character of the applicant; (3) police records of applicants for licenses; (4) licensing of hawkers and pedlars; (5) supplementary valuations; (<*.) community buses; (7) finance of the No. 1 licensins authori.y; (8) riparian rights: (9i the question of keeping the Council advised of matters affecting the Council's interest coming before Parliament. The various matters were fully discussed, and the Parliamentary members promised that they would receive full consideration.
