WATCHDOG NOT EFFICIENT.

» GENERAL STORE ROBBED. GLASS SMASHED IX DOOR. (By Telegraph. —Own Correspondent.) CHRJSTCHURCH, this day. Smashing a pane of glass in the door, a burglar broke into Mr. <J. \Y. Smith's store at the corner of Wilson's Road and Opawa Road, last night. His haul consisted of shirts, collars, rugs, cigarettes, sandwich rolls, and socks. Taking advantage of the stormy night, he apparently worked at leisure. Having had other experience of burglars and their methods, Mr. Smith removes the cash from his till each night, so that no money was stolen. In the yard of the shop Mr. Smith keeps a large and ferocious dog. but evidently the dog did not hear the intruder, for no alarm was raised. It is just a year ago since thieves broke into Mr. Smith's residence, a few doors away from the shop, and took between £30 and £40.
