OUTSIDER WINS THE STEEPLES. WHITE FANG SCORES IN SPRINT. SYDNEY, June 12. The Australian Jockey Club's winter meeting was concluded at Randwick yesterday in fine weather. The following were the results of the leading events: — THE A.J.C. STEEPLECHASE, A sweepstake of lOsovs each, with 2000sovs added ; about three miles. GULYARRI, b g, aged, by Ritualist— Hazelene (Mr. T. J. Hayes), 9.12 1 MENDIT, ch g, aged (Mr. J. W. Cook), 9.2 2 POMPENE. blk g, aged (Mr. H. D. Grant), 9.4 3 Ten started. Nyangay made the early running, but was soon displaced by Minterne," who led the field the second time round. Mendit then took charge and led over the last fence from Nyangay, Gulyarri and Pompene. Mendit appeared to have the race won, but he ran wide at the halfdistance, and Gulyarri and Pompene. finishing fast, changed the order, the first-named winning by a length. Time, 6.28. Gnlyarri's win was a great surprise, for he was a rank outsider. WINTER STAKES of ToOsovs. One mile five furlongs. JOHNNIE JONES, b g, sjts, by Berragoon—Lady Bonnie Amie (Mr. G. T. Carr), 8.8 1 FREDDIE C. 6yrs, 7.12 2 COOLGONG syrs, 8.10 3 Twelve started. Johnnie Jones won by two lengths. Time, 2.51. FLYING HANDICAP of 500sovs. Six furlongs. WHITE FANG, b g, 4yrs, by Polydamon—Natalite (Mrs. M. G. Mcintosh), 8.5 1 MAGDAFF, 7A t ARIEDON, 7.2 t tDead heat for second. White Fang took command at an early stage, and, holding his advantage, won easily by five lengths. Time, 1.11. EXETER HANDICAP of SOOsovs. One mile. TRIPLEX, ch g, 4yrs, by Kenilworth— Lacerta (Mr. P. H. Osborne), 8.11 1 LOVEBOX, 4yrs, 8.1 2 THE THORN, 4yjg, 9.1 3 Nineteen started, including Fool's Paradise, Reonui and Giggle. In a great finish Triplex won by half a length. Time, 1.38 J.
