MOTOR CAR OVERTURNS.
IN AVOIDING SMALL BOT. ALARMING SMASH AT POXSOXBY. In avoiding a small boy who had suddenly run out on to the roadway, a motor oar driven by Mr. B. C. Winters, of 40, Baildon Road, Grey Lynn, struck the kerb in Douglas Street, Ponsonby, on Saturday afternoon, and overturned. The driver and Mis 9 Maitland, a cousin, were badly shaken but escaped without further injury. Xot so fortunate, however, was Mr. Winter's baby son, aged two, who had one foot badly cut. He was taken to the hospital where he is progressing satisfactorily. There have been several complaints by motorists of the danger caused by children playing on the footpath and suddenly dashing into the road. It is stated that in the present case one boy was chasing another, and the driver of the car was only just able to avoid striking him. CAR AND CYCLE IN COLLISION. A motor car nnd motor cycle collided on tlie railway overbridge at Ellerslie on Saturday afternoon. The driver of the car, Mr. W. Orr, of Papatoetoe, was unhurt, but the cyclist, Mr. S. Clewther, of St. Helier's. received slight injuries to the legs. He was able to go home after first aid had been administered.
