Physical Disability of Heir ' Throne. i THIRD SON APPOINTED. PAKIS, June 10. A message from the Madrid correspondent of "Le Journal" says that the ailment from which Don Alfonso, Prince of the Asturias, eldest son of the King of Spain, is suffering isacute haemophilia, which causes copious bleeding from the slightest F-cratch. The Prince cannot walk, and drives about in a motor car which is equipped with a special] inattre?*. | Treatment by the world's best specialists has had but meagre results. In consequence of the Prince's disabilities, and also those of the King's second son, Don •Taime, the succession of the throne will devolve upon Prince Juan Carlos, the third son, aged 14.
__ Beside? the thiee sons mentioned, the King and Queen of Spain have a fourth son. Don (ronralo. aged 13 years, and two daughters. Princess Beatrice, born in 1909, and Princes* Maria, bom in 1911 The second son, Don Jaime, has been d*?ai and dumb since birth. Haemophilia, from which the Prince of the Asturias is suering, is described as a constitutional and congenital disease, in which uncon- ] trollable haemorrhage often follows a | slight wound or other trivial injury. The! subject* of this disease are often spoken of as "bleeders." It occurs most commonly in males. The haemorrhages may persist for days, or even weeks. Treatment is in many cases futile, and nearly always unsatisfactory.
