SON IN 'PLANE CRASH. ] A mother* ■ anxiety for her son's safety led to her arrival on the scene just after the aeroplane bearing him crashed to earth at Wokingham. The young ma, Mr. Victor Garland, fortunately had a remarkable escape from injury, as did also the pilot of hia machine, Mr. Leslie Lewis, and another passenger, Mr. Albert Twitchins, the landlord of a local inn. The 'plane, u pleasure machine which had «me to Wokingham for the Easter holidays, was giving circular flights at 5/ each, and had just completed a flight vhen it made a faulty landing. As a result the machine snapped in two pieces, turned a complete somersault, and pinned the three occupants beneath it. A crowd of spectators at once rushed lithe scene and extricated the men, who were in dazed condition, but otherwise unhurt. . On a poster advertising the nights, whicn was headed "Safety for All, it was announced that Mr. Victor Garland, who was described as a film actor, would perform acrobatic feats and walk along the wings of the machine while it was in mid-air- _ , Mrs. Garland, whose home is at Barkham Manor, near Wokingham, was strongly opposed to her son's proposal to risk his life in this manner, and was most anxious for him. So great was ner fear that he would be hurt, in fact, that she set out for the scene of the flights, arriving just after the crash.
