The fact that the driver of a service car plving between Gisborne and Rotorua has covered 30,000 miles in less than eight months, or roughly 1000 miles a week, gives some indication of the remarkable distance that these men have to travel (says the "Poverty Bay Herald''). The driver referred to bought his car in October of last year, and his speedometer has just now touched the 30.000-mile mark. He estimates that in one year he travels approximately 00.000 miles, equal to twice the circumference of the world.
