NO SETTLEMENT.
DISPUTE WITH WATERSIDERS. SHIP PREPARING TO SAIL CARGO RETURNED TO STORE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) GISBORNE, this day. There being no prospect of a settlement of the dispute with the watersiders, who have refused to work the Port Auckland, arrangements have been made for the immediate dispatch of the steamer, and the return of her cargo from the lighters to the store. This decision was made after further J futile calls for labour had been made. The dispute has been referred to the National Disputes Committee. Officially the agents of the Port Auckland have received no notification of the terms on which the watersiders have refused engagement. It is understood that the men are aggrieved at not having been paid two hours' extra time on Wednesday evening, when the vessel proceeded to sea owing to stress of weather.
