THE LISTENERS' LEAGUE.

EXECUTIVE GETS BUSY.

ACTIVE CAMPAIGN LAUNCHED

The first meeting of the executive of the Auckland Listeners* League was held last Bight, when the treasurer reported a most enthusiastic response to the request for enrolment. The question of a definite policy for the League was threshed out, and after communications with leagues in other centres from whom co-operation will be sought this policy will be placed before a public 'meeting at a nearly date. The chairman (Mr. A. C. Jacob) stated that he had communicated with the manager of the Broadcasting. Company (Mr. A. R. Harris), asking that the latter should meet the executive with a view to discussing the present broadcasting situation. Mr. Harris had wired a reply that as Mr. Prentcei had resigned of his own volition no useful purpose could be served in discussing the matter. Undeterred, the executive has now communicated with Mi\ Macnamara, Secretary of the Post and Telegraph Department, asking him if possible to visit Auckland, so that the views of the listeners on the subject of broadcasting may be placed before him here. A statement of reasons for dissatisfaction with present conditions is to be prepared and forwarded to each member of Parliament in the Auckland province, and these members are to be invited to meet a deputation from the Lague, so that they be given full details of the story of broadcasting in the Dominion. They will thus be able to fully understand all that has led up to the present unfortunate position. In regard to the matter of greatest moment among listeners of Auckland, the following resolution was passed: "This executive expresses its great regret at Mr. Prentice's resignation, and feels that such will be disastrous to broadcasting in New Zealand." Spontaneous offers of assistance to the League were received from many quarters, and all preparations were made for an active campaign amongst listeners to commence next week.
