W.E.A. LECTURES.
KEEN INTEREST IN WAIHJ. MAYOR PRESIDES AT DEBATE. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WAIHI, this day. Great interest is being taken in the W.E.A. lectures, recently inaugurated here. Last night Mr. YV. M. Richmond lectured on "The British Empire: Problems of Race, etc." and a spirited debate followed. The Mayor presided, and amongst the large number present were Mr. E. Dye. president of the Miners' Union, and Mr. W. Bice, secretary, and the workmen's inspector.
Mr. Richmond intends shortly to address a meeting of miners on the subject of W.E.A. propaganda.
A number of new members were enrolled last evening, including a pood percentage of ladies. Mr. J. C. Ross has been appointed secretary.
