TRADE WITH ARGENTINA.
WARM PRAISE FOR CONSUL.
A PLEA FOR RECIPROCITY.

Warm aud sincere tributes to the work done by Senor Huniberto Bidonc as Consul-general for the .Argentine in New Zealand were paid at the annual dinner of the Fruitgrowers' Federation.
Among a number of speakers was the Hon. 0. J. Hawken, Minister oi Agriculture, who said Scuor Bidonc had always done his utmost to promote the best feelings of friendship and trade between the two countries, and he was satisfied he would continue to do so.
Senor Bidone, in riew of his departure shortly, was presented with a travelling rujr as a token of esteem and regard. "My first word must lie one of thanks for yonr kindness." said Senor Bidone.
"\our products, consisting of apples, live stock, honey, preserved fish, condensed milk, etc.. are admitted into the Argentine duty free, and I ho|>c you will enjoy this privilege for many years to c-omc. but permit me to make a* suggestion. Try to buy. as a reciprocal. some Argentine product?. suHi a» linseed, tannin materials and wine. Then the commercial relations between both countries will be lasting. A commercial treaty will foster still more the economic trade of New Zealand and the Argentine. I look to the day when the New Zealand trade in apples to the Argentine will be increased tenfold."'
