The peace move "which originated from the Federal Executive of the Labour party to adjust the differences in the New South Wales Labour party has failed. Meetings of both factions rejected the terms of settlement suggested. At a later meeting the official executive of the Australian Labour party, a resolution was passed expelling Mr. J. T. Lang, Premier of New South Wales, and all the members of his latest Ministry from the Labour movement. The Seale executive was also expelled. Mr. Lang's Ministry elected on May 27, was as follow: Premier and Treasurer, Mr. J. T. Lang; Mines and Labour and Industry, Mr. J. M. Baddeley; Lands and Forests, Mr. E. M. Horsington; AttorneyGeneral. Mr. A. A. Lysaght; Health, Mr. R. J. Stuart-Robertson; Justice, Mr. W. J. McKell: Education, Mr. W. Davies; Chief Secretary, Mr. Mark Gosling; Local Government. Mr. T. Keegan; Works and Railways, .Mr. W. J. Ratcliffe; Agriculture, Mr. P. V. Stokes; Vice-president of the Executive Council, Mr. A. C. Willis; Honorary Minister, Mr. R. W. Cruickshank.

A split is threatened in the ranks of Mr. Mutch's followers over the proposals put forward by the Federal Executive of the Australian Labour party in an attempt to bring the rival factions in New South Wales together.

The influential section of the Mutch party is said to favour the holding of a unity conference on July 9, while the other side opposes the conference.

Mr. Mutch received a letter from Mr. R. Semple, of the New Zealand Labour party, congratulating him on attaining leadership. Mr. Semple added: "Lang and the arch-traitor Willis are willing tools of those who want to smash the Labour movement."
