CANTERBURY MARKETS. (By Telesraph.—Pres9 Association.! CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. Since the previous report the markets have shown_ no important fluctuations. Potatoes are still in keen demand, but growers show no great anxiety to do business on a basis of £3 If)/. The Katoa left on Wednesday with 5000 sacks for the North Island, and the Wingatui is to leave about Tuesday. The quantity she will take is not known yet. For delivery next month business is reported to have been done at from £4 to £4 10/. Very little is being done with onions, and quotations are given as up,to £2 per ton. The wheat market shows little change, and though, a line was purchased on Wednesday at 5/7. the ruling price is still 5/6 tor lusean. This is considered by growers to be at least 4d below what it should be, and there is comparatively little offering. It is considered that most of the smaller growers have disposed of their wheat, and that the lar K er growers are holding for an anticipated advance.
